The club was set up in its present form in 1995 but its true roots go back to 1984 when Table-Tennis got going in St. Tiernans. The club moved its nighttime session to St. Anthonys in 1995 and the rest is history. Eastpoint Table-Tennis Club is one of the top clubs in Ireland. Over the past ten years it has been a nursery for Irish table-tennis talent. Alan Monks,Eoin Byrne, Damien Lynch, Conor Nolan and John Murphy have all honed their talent here. In the season 99-2000 Damien established himself as one of Ireland's top players with wins at the Connacht and Leinster Opens. Alan Monks finished his season in style winning the National Championships and being selected for the Irish team to play at the European Championships. Alan went on to retain his title in the Valley Leisure Centre in September 2001 when a Foot and Mouth delayed championships were staged there. During this period The club also had five of the top six Cadet boys training in the club. Our own three were No.3 Sean Givernaud,No.5 Andy Boland and No.7 Brian Farrell. Sean, Andrew and Brian have all represented Ireland at U-14 International level this season. All these players played consistently well in tournaments during those season. Strong links were forged with A.L.S.A.A. Table-Tennis Club. Players practiced together and joint ventures included Junior British League and the Karlsborg Global Youth Table-Tennis Championships in Sweden. The other two members of the successful cadet squad were ALSAA members , Irish No.2 Conor Nolan and No.6 John Murphy. They all practiced together both in Eastpoint and in ALSAA and this close cooperation between the two clubs was beneficial to everyone. The following season all these cadets had to make the great transition from the Cadets to the Under17s and it was a successful one. Conor(No2), John(No.4), Sean(No.7) and Andy(No.9) were all in the top ten and heavily involved from the quarter finals onwards. Even at that stage the next generation was coming online. The Under12s had a good season and Andrew and Gavin swapping positions in the Leinster and Irish rankings with Gavin finishing higher in Ireland (No.6) and Andrew higher in Leinster(No.8). Mark O'Flynn started that season and for Mark to be No.15 in Leinster and top twenty in Ireland was a great achievement in his first season. However he will best be remembered this season for pouring a bootle of water over me in nearly his first training session!! Talk about starting with a bang! As the following seasons progressed our younger squad grew from strength to strength. Theys have developed into really good players and this culminated with Mark capturing the Number one under 12 spot in the 2002-2003 season. In the 2003/04 season he finished up as number 2 Under 14 and achieved the ultimate honour of representing his country at the European youth Championships. Our seniors have done extremely well winning the Premier Division in 2001-2002 and retaining the title in 2003 and 2004. This team of Brian Fitzgerald, Marcus McDonnell and John Bowe have done well in the face of the mounting opposition of younger players and foreigners who have arrived on the scene. The team has been supplimented with with Na Ning and Gilles Ducorroy in recent years as Brian headed back to Cork.
