The inevitable match in the Junior boys tournament at the Irish Classification was the meeting somewhere along the line of Mark O'Flynn and Gavin Maguire.On this occasion it happened at the semi final stage. and on this occasion Mark was the victor, booking his place in the final with a comprehensive 3-0 win. It was a masterclass in table tennis from Mark as defeated first Sam Hanley 3-1 in the quarters and then Gav in the semi before a thrilling 5 set final which he narrowly lost to Paul McCreery. The following day in the cadets Conor Beades Luke O'Shea and Ian Fahey all progressed to the second round groups before going out. Conor lost to Declan O'Brien in a tight 4 set contest. Ian lost to Ashley Robinson in a countback. Luke lost to Alex Cooney. Adam Claffey won the plate in both the Under 14s and the under17s having suffered from very difficult groups in the first round of both competitions. |
